The ground rules for dining, drinking and playing at Blisslume — bookings, poker nights, events and using this website. Plain English, fair both ways.
The basics
Blisslume is a licensed restaurant and venue at 309 Cumberland Street, Dunedin, run by Blisslume Hospitality Ltd (NZBN 9429052418763). By booking a table, buying a ticket or using this website, you're agreeing to these terms.
We can update these terms when the business changes — the version dated at the top of this page is the one that applies to your booking.
Bookings & cancellations
- Tables are held for 15 minutes past booking time — after that, the waitlist gets them.
- Groups of 9+ and private events need a deposit, refundable up to 48 hours out.
- Running late? Call us — we'll juggle where we can, but Friday kitchens can't bend physics.
- No-shows for prepaid events (Cumberland Cup, Gatsby night) forfeit the ticket. Life happens — tell us early and we'll try to move you to the next date.
Confirmed bookings come by email. If you haven't got one, we haven't got you — chase us via the contact page.
Poker nights & game rules
Our weekly poker nights and casino-style events are social, hosted entertainment — here's the fine print:
- All play is in-person at the venue. Blisslume is not an online casino or betting platform — there's no remote entry, app play or online wagering, ever.
- Buy-ins are fixed per night and stated before you commit. No side bets beyond the stated format.
- Dealers' calls are final on the night. Disputes go to the events lead; her word stands.
- Prizes are trophies, bar credit and leaderboard points — social stakes by design.
- House etiquette applies: phones off the felt, no coaching mid-hand, respect the table.

Age limits & responsible service
- Under-18s are welcome in the dining room until 8 pm, accompanied by an adult.
- After 8 pm the whole venue is 18+. The card room and all poker games are 18+ at all times — bring photo ID.
- We follow responsible service of alcohol: we can refuse service, slow it down, or call you a ride. No hard feelings.
- If a game stops feeling fun, tell a host. We'll help you step back, and gamblinghelpline.co.nz is free and confidential.
This website & liability
Site use
- Menus, prices and event details change — the in-venue version is always the accurate one.
- Don't scrape, copy or misuse the site content. It's ours, and we worked hard on it.
- External links (like Google Maps) are their own sites with their own rules.
Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act or Fair Trading Act.
- We're responsible for our venue and our service — not for babysitters, taxis, weather or lost coats.
- Participation in poker nights is voluntary and at social stakes; play within your means.
Events, photography & your data
- Private events get a separate event agreement covering menus, deposits, run-sheets and cancellation terms — it overrides this page where they differ.
- Photography — we sometimes photograph the room and events. Tell a host if you'd rather stay out of frame; we'll always blur or reshoot.
- Your data — booking and event info is handled under our privacy policy; site cookies are covered in the cookie policy.
Governing law & questions
New Zealand law applies to these terms, your bookings and your visits. Disputes get sorted in NZ courts — though honestly, in nine years we've settled everything over a coffee at the bar.
